Scoring System Pencak Silat is a traditional Southeast Asian martial art that is widely practiced in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Philippines. With the meaning of “artistically defending,” Pencak Silat is a comprehensive martial art that combines spirit, training, self-defense, culture and sports which can be applied in actual fighting.Pencak Silat was first spread among Islamic culture while it was originated and developed from the sport that was practiced by royal family of Malaysian people.

Without a religious overtone, the worldwide Pencak Silat population has been increased among non-Islamic culture countries. The martial arts has about 60 national federations/associations worldwide and is practiced by troops and special agents of around 100 countries. A well-known example is Gurkha soldiers, which was introduced in Korea through the movie “The Man from Nowhere” (2010).Pencak Silat was adapted into competition format as the Indonesian, Malaysian, Singapore and Brunei Pencak Silat federations/associations have established the International Federation in Indonesia in the year of 1980.
