Star Handgun Serial Numbers

Posted on by  admin

I just indicated the Army (AT) and Airforce (AE) the Spanish Government issued a lot of pistols A, B, S, BM etc. Some were marked with the agency in some fashion and some strictly with an issue number especially in the Super series. The slide, frame, barrel numbers kept the pistol together as Star's are not totally interchangeable like a 1911 and had many hand fitted parts. When the Gov traded thousands of Model S pistols in to Star and Interarms bought them for import to the U.S. Star was required to remove every number.and gov identifier.

Serial numbers and control or issue numbers included. The factory dumped all parts together and built refurbished pistols (many of the current offerings are these rebuilt pistols that fall into a late 1980's S/N series) because of the mix you can find late model slides on fifties era guns, etc. And often functioning problems occour with these nice looking but 'mixmaster' pistols.

Most of the turn in's of other models were imported without removal of markings.go figure! Early pistols have the serial on the butt and issue numbers on the left frame and slide, others received the issue number on the right-another ' go figure'.

Late production (when 1million was met) was serialized on the left side of the frame at an angle by the mag release or horizontally by the slide stop. Fortunately Star's are well documented.
